On 30 December 2021, the National Assembly Standing Committee has issued Resolution No. 12/2021/UBTVQH15 to permit / approve implementation for a number of mechanisms & policies in the health sector in order to serve the prevention and control of Covid-19 epidemic.
The Vietnamese Government has taken decisive action & provided critical guidelines to maintain the healthcare activities & support local & foreign pharmaceutical companies.
One of the most important policies to be specified in this Resolution No. 12/2021/UBTVQH15 is about management of drugs and medicinal ingredients in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic. Accordingly, it is guided that “if the Marketing Authorization of the registered drug products to be expired from 30 December 2021 (effective date of this Resolution No. 12/2021/UBTVQH15) to 30 December 2022, it is allowed to extend validity of the Marketing Authorization until 31 December 2022 to ensure medical examination & treatment”.
Although the above-mentioned Resolution No. 12/2021/UBTVQH15 was effective from 30 December 2021, we are still waiting for further & specific guidelines from the Drug Administration – Ministry of Health for the said policy.
